Hear This: Bessie Turner - Nino

Bessie Turner has released her latest single ‘Nino’ on LAB Records, in collaboration with her own label Don’t Try.

Moving from a strictly DIY process in the last year, 'Nino' pushes Bessie Turner a little bit more with a bigger support system than ever. Also available as a 7” Record with Flying Vinyl, ‘Nino’ was produced by the producer of the Grammy-winning record, In Rainbows, Richard Woodcraft.

Bessie has fallen a reference or two short of laying herself bare in her previous releases and ‘Nino’ is no different. She spoke ahead of the release about shrouding her intimate personal experiences: “The song has some well disguised personal references that relate to me...body image, boredom, sex, and that feeling like you want to go into self-destruct mode because of it all. Life can overwhelm and consume everybody and having someone there to give you a push or a boost is sometimes all it takes.”

Whilst touching on themes of anxiety, self-destruction and the importance of those around you, ‘Nino’ remains a completely uplifting, mid-tempo track. Full of sparkle and twinkling guitars that make this a catchy and easy listen, Bessie succeeds in bolstering her brave face with memorable, hooky lyricism.
