The female-fronted London trio, PLYA (Spanish for “beach”, pronounced “ply-ah”) have done a double release of two dreamy-pop singles, ‘Innocent’ and ‘Addiction’.
The release follows their infectious debut from March, ‘Thinking of You’ and the dark pop record, ‘Feast My Eye’, which were released on Atlantic’s singles label, Taste & Tone.
PLYA’s style is a multinational concoction of the dreaminess of LA with the sophisticated London aesthetic. This influence derives from vocalist Julia Sykes’ upbringing in the Spanish islands; she has the unique ability to pick out key aspects of internationally captivating sounds.
‘Innocent’ beings as a sultry track, with dirty beats that are soon to be taken over by Julia’s smooth vocals and rising synths, gradually becoming a reflective track. While ‘Addiction’ is the perfect, catchy dance-pop record. Contagious beats and groovy arrangements, this track is sure to be your very own ‘addiction’.
Having only debuted last October, the trio have truly taken the UK by storm with a sold out headline show at London’s Camden Assembly along with festival slots in Spain. PLYA are certainly one to look out for as they enter their second year as a band.
