Haiku Salut may remain silent on stage, but their new single ‘Cold To Crack The Stones’ speaks for itself.
Fresh off the back of guesting on the last Public Service Broadcasting album, multi-instrumentalist trio Gemma and Sophie Barkerwood and Louise Croft, have infused the electronic with the organic, to fabricate stunning new single ‘Cold To Crack The Stones’.
With two critically-acclaimed albums under their belt (Tricolore (2013) and Etch and Etch Deep (2015)) Haiku Salut have further expanded their tonal horizons, reaching further into the twinkling void of electronic ‘loopery and laptopery’.
‘Cold To Crack The Stones’ is bathed in a warm, balmy light. By forging contemporary techno and electronica with traditional instruments like the accordion, piano, glockenspiel, and trumpet, the track takes us on a journey from the far outreaches of a NASA space station to backstage at a concert hall.
This is the first single to be taken from forthcoming third album There is No Elsewhere, their first for PRAH recordings, due out in September.
Their bold endeavour to twist and blend genres comes to fruition in a mass of folky, melodic electronica that forces you to feel, breathe and imagine.
