Up and coming alternative folk duo Paper Hawk have exclusively shared their breathtaking new single with The National Student.
‘Written in the Lines’ is a strikingly intimate accompaniment to the duo’s previous singles, offering a further glimpse into the far-reaching capabilities of the Brighton based act. The track, akin to a crashing wave, slowly builds from more delicate pulled back riffs to a more awe-inducing climax, with every incoming tide embodied by dominant percussion. Scott Booth’s radiant voice is carried by the calming tones of Rebecca Brandler, culminating in the dazzling harmonies that carry the duo’s deeply confessional lyrics. The single is taken from their forthcoming debut EP The Tide and is aided by the careful production of Josh Trinnaman (from jazz-IDM fusion band Luo), who lifts the intimate track into a captivating, dream-like state. The Tide will be released digitally on boutique label Folklore Sessions on the 2nd May, alongside a limited run of 50 physical copies, personalised with a handwritten note and a signed art print.
