Hyde Park
1st - 10th July

Again for two weekends this July Hyde Park becomes a veritable smorgasbord of sound as Barclaycard presents British Summer Time takes over with its most eclectic offering to date.

Massive AttackLike a musical pick n mix music fans can choose the day that gives them the best aural treats.

The opening day is truly something awe-inspiring. Headlined by trip-hop legends Massive Attack, that fact alone would be enough to get you excited, but with the addition of another living legend in Patti Smith, soulful art-rock band TV On The Radio, London’s own Ghostpoet and Warpaint adding to a yet uncompleted bill it’s unlikely you’ll get a better one days worth of music in the capital all summer.

The first Saturday brings Florence + The Machine, but the real coup is a set from Kendrick Lemar off the back of 2015’s masterpiece album To Pimp A Butterfly. This should be an unmissable set. They are joined by a strange mix of acts such as Jamie XX, Cat Power, Todd Terje, Blood Orange and Kamasi Washington.

The other really exciting day occurs the following Friday. OK, Mumford & Sons might not be all that exciting but looking at the rest of their day it is a feast of great guitar music as they are joined by Wolf Alice, Alabama Shakes and Mystery Jets. Elsewhere the bill takes on an international theme with sets from Baaba Maal and The Very Best.

Across the rest of the festival there’s ‘the day for the oldies’ with Carole King and Don Henley and the ‘pop day’ headlined by Mum’s favourites Take That, supported by Olly Murs and Ella Eyre.

Soul legend Stevie Wonder completes year four of this event with a performance of his classic album Songs In The Key of Life in full.

Tickets start at £59.50, available from www.bst-hydepark.com/
