It’s ten years since DFA1979’s mind-blowing debut album (one we gave five stars to back in the day) and now the wait for some new tuneage is over.
This September the Canadian dance-punk duo drop their second album The Physical World and before that we get a taste of things to come with brand-spanking-new single ‘Trainwreck 1979’.
Less of an aural assault than previous efforts this single doesn’t so much punch you in the face repeatedly with sound, but caress you with it in a slightly sleazy manner.
The disco elements are more pronounced, but the scuzzy, kinetic approach of their bass and drums energy remains intact.
If this is anything to go by DFA1979 might be getting another thumbs up come September when the album is released.
