Relentless Kerrang Awards 2014What Kerrang! Magazine don’t know about rock music, probably isn’t worth knowing anyway!

It makes sense that they throw one of the biggest metal parties of the year.

The Relentless Kerrang! Awards 2014 takes place on 12th June at London’s Troxy, and will be hosted by legendary partier Andrew W.K. and Anthrax guitar god Scott Ian.

The nominations shortlist reads like a definitive list of rockstars and metallers for 2014.

We Came As Romans

As much as we like metalcore, it does often leave us craving a little more melody. Luckily that’s what We Came As Romans provide.

Nominated for – Best International Newcomer



What’s not to like about these shouty, vegan, metalcore merchants? Blast beats, crushing riffs, seething anger – they have what you want from rock. They make us want to break stuff, in a good way!

Asking Alexandria

What exactly do you call Asking Alexandria? Metalcore? Electronicore? Metal? Who really cares! Their blend of styles has dragged metal into a new place.

Nominated for – Best British Band



A list of awesome metal acts is going to include Metallica, it’s standard.

Avenged Sevenfold

A metal band for metal heads, Avenged Sevenfold have all the classic metal chops. They may have deviated from their metalcore beginnings but they are still one of the best live rock bands around.

Baby Godzilla

This lot have been laying waste to stages across the UK, it’s total carnage!! Things like the division of stage and crowd don’t mean a thing to them. They make an awesome rock racket – we love them...

Blitz Kids

British rock is in a good place right now. Case in point is Blitz Kids, with their hook-filled choruses and pop sensibilities. They make rock music perfect for summer.

Escape The Fate

Post-hardcore heavily influenced by classic hard rock. All the emotion of emo with all the juggernaut riffs and machismo of the best heavy tunes – that’s Escape The Fate.

Nominated for – Best Event 



Masters of modern hardcore Letlive are one of our favourite rock bands. They defy convention and labels to make a frenetic, subversive sound. Album The Blackest Beautiful was named one of our ‘Best Albums of 2013’ – it’s that good.

Biffy Clyro

The Scottish trio are having a stellar 2014, having worked their way up to festival headliners and here they are nominated for Best British Band. “Mon the Biffy” – indeed!
