Pet Shop Boys added as third Festival No. 6 headliner

Festival No 6 has announced electro-pop icons Pet Shop Boys as their third headliner, adding to their biggest bill to date. 

Festival No 6They are joined by two great electronic additions in techno-legend Laurent Garnier and Norwegian disco king Todd Terje. 

Pet Shop Boys join Beck and London Grammar in the headline slots, for the festival that takes place in the magical Portmeirion, Wales over the weekend of 5th to 7th September. 

Also in this round of additions are Norman Jay, Jon Hopkins, The Undertones, Toy, Spector, Patrick Wolf, Tom Vek and Peter Hook & The Light. 

This adds to a stellar bill that also includes Bonobo, Martha Reeves and Vandellas, Neneh Cherry with RocketNumberNine, Steve Mason and Temples

Festival No.6 Director Bradley Thompson said, “We are hugely excited to have such a truly iconic act as the Pet Shop Boys playing No.6 this year. They’re one of Britain’s biggest ever bands, but remain a brilliant, groundbreaking live act, and their headline slot is going to be incredible. Together with other additions like Laurent Garnier and Todd Terje, this is without doubt our strongest line-up to date, and cements No.6’s position as the ultimate closing party to the festival season.” 

The festival has also unveiled the line-up for The Clough Stage, the Welsh and international stage which proved such a huge hit last year. Friday is curated by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and John Rostron from Swn Festival, Saturday by Andy Votel and Doug Shipton from Finders Keepers and Sunday by Welsh promoters Nyth and Gwyl Gwydir all helping curate a bespoke mix of Welsh and international artists and collaborators. Highlights include Geraint JarmanMatt BerryYr Ods,Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab), Cian Ciaran and Edan, alongside a host of established and emerging acts. 

Music is just one part of the festival offering with arts and culture playing a huge part. This year’s cultural line-up includes Charlie Higson (The Fast Show), a Dylan Thomas tribute featuring Kevin Allen, Rhys Ifans and Murray Lachlan Young, Julian Cope, Kevin Rowland, Jonathan Meades, Shlomo, an exclusive Shane Meadows screening, Bez’s Question Time, Carnival No.6, the return of Brythoniaid Welsh Male Voice Choir, and much, much more.

 Festival No.6 still has more announcements to make in the coming weeks, including a much bigger food line-up, including appearances from Michelin starred chefs and top food writers like Observer Food Monthly and The One Show’s Jay Rayner

The acts will perform across the entire site, from the historic town hall to the Colonnade gardens, to the picturesque Estuary Stage and the promenade along the river, against a back drop of neo-classical architecture, sandy beaches and palm trees.
