Streetfest, one of London’s largest exhibitions of urban culture, has recently announced both hip hop r&b mainstay Ms. Dynamite and drum 'n' bass legend Goldie to headline their 2014 festival this May. Often known for her 2002 hit ‘Dy-Na-Mi-Tee’, as well as being the first ever black female solo-artist to win the Mercury Music Prize, Ms. Dynamite is one that’s made her mark throughout the noughties. Alongside her more recent work with the likes of Shy FX, Disclosure and others, she now treats her fans to a headline performance at this year’s Streetfest. Yet, Ms. Dynamite isn’t the only reason to head over to Hackney Wick on May 4th. Crowds would be wise to stick around for Drum ’n’ Bass pioneer Goldie who plays the same stage on the bank holiday. Alongside his MetalHeadz label, Goldie now prides a big reputation as a DJ, actor, graffiti artist and break dancer. Streetfest aims to promote urban culture in the UK through a talented array of artists and urban athletes to create a day packed full of expression and creativity. With both of these headliners epitomising the scene, Streetfest 2014 has the potential for being both an accurate depiction of the current contemporary urban movement and a day out not to be missed. Streetfest is on Bank Holiday May 4th and will be hosted at its new venue ‘Forman’s Fish Island’. For more information please visit www.streetfest.net.
