New Band of The Day: Intervals

Not many modern musicians can claim to be virtuosos, but progressive metallers Intervals should truly be considered masters of their art. For a Djent band to make it this far, an intelligent, technical sound is a must. But Intervals don’t let genre conventions restrict their craft, seasoning their sound with electronic and neoclassical influences. Having already garnered strong support in the prog scene as an instrumental act, the addition of vocalist Mike Semesky was somewhat of a risk. But the decision has undoubtedly paid off. Infectious vocal hooks underpin their expansive, guitar-driven sound in songs that are masterpieces of orchestrated chaos. Progressive metal music often limits itself to a restricted fan base, but Intervals have mastered a sound that is both accessible and technical, making them one of the genre’s most promising acts. Intervals' debut album A Voice Within is out today.
