We all love festivals, but it would seem more and more of us are less willing to put up with discomfort and muddy fields, looking abroad for our summer music fix. Festicket’s survey of over 2,700 festival goers from all around the world, showed that festival-goers not only want to travel abroad for events, they want to do so in comfort. Hotels, hostels and apartments as well as luxury camping options are becoming the most popular for a festival stay. In 2013 only 8% of people stayed in a luxury hotel, but in 2014 a massive 80% of people are planning to travel in style and stay in a luxury hotel. With the sheer amount of festivals on offer it is no surprise that Croatia came out as the most popular destination last year with 20% of people jetting off there. Closely following in the popularity stakes were Germany (19%) and the Netherlands (12%). Travel is becoming a more important part of the festival experience with 60% saying that they extended their trip to make the most of the destination. The survey also shows that people want to make the process of arranging a foreign festival trip as simple as possible. In 2013, 60% of people bought their festival essentials – travel, accommodation, ticket etc. – separately, but in 2014, 95% of them will aim to buy everything in one go from a website like Festicket. Festicket, a music festival travel platform, conducted the first International Music Festival Trends survey looking into international music festival travel.
