Joshua Luke Smith is a unique artist with a sound that intersects hip-hop and folk music.
Neither aspect of his music is a gimmick either, with Smith just as proficent at crafting an infectious folk melody as he is showcasing his hip-hop lyricism.
Inevitably, Joshua Luke Smith's crossover appeal will draw comparisons to the early work of Ben Drew, with the two even addressing similar subjects. But Smith is much more than Folk's Plan B.
Smith’s debut single 'Ode To The Dreamer' showcases both his ethos and idiosyncrasies. It is a hopeful, inspiring track in which Smith sings, "I believe you have a hope and a future."
An acoustic, rousing chorus is contrasted with the understated verses in which Smith showcases his lyrical dexterity and creativity.
Smith has also been praised for his powerful spoken word piece 'The Girl In Chains', in which he highlights the horrors of human trafficking in a visceral, passionate video that can be viewed below.
