Dances are vital to music videos, and can be seen whenever you flick onto the music channels. Now and again - there are some that get the nation moving along. Dancewear retailer Dance Direct recently conducted a survey that aimed to find out our favourite dance scenes from music videos, and they shared their results with us. They came as somewhat of a… shock.
From school disco classics to recent movers and shakers, the top ten countdown of dances contained them all, however the number one shows how much influence a viral video can have on the charts, and in turn the opinion of the nation.
So, without further ado, let’s get onto the countdown!
10. Michael Jackson – Billie Jean
A mysterious video that captures some of Jackson’s signature moves - whilst lighting up the pavement slabs.What’s not to love?
9. Rocky Horror Picture Show – Time Warp
Even though the video originated from this cult film, it still managed to find itself in the top ten. Seems people can’t get enough of this sweet transvestite…
8. MC Hammer – U Can’t Touch This
The enthusiastic jumping accessorised with those signature ‘hammer pants’ certainly makes this video one to remember!
7. Baauer - Harlem Shake
A surprise entry that demonstrates the power of YouTube. This dance (be it just a sequence of seemingly uncontrollable shaking) turned into an unavoidable craze which attracted fans such as the Norwegian Army - whose video on YouTube received over 94 million views!
6. Madonna - Vogue
Released by Madonna at the height of her career, and the origin of the dance move ‘Voguing’, this iconic video is still a favourite amongst the nation.
