New Band of The Day: Layla

Layla's charming alt-pop has all the hallmarks of a future pop heavyweight.
In December of last year, songstress Jose Vander announced a change in direction, subsequently deciding to release music under the name Layla, starting with the New Year EP
The lead single of this release and title track is the EP’s highlight. The understated, piano led 'New Year' lends fragile instrumentals to the diverse, idiosyncratic vocals of Layla on an emotive track.
Her latest single 'Yellow Circles' is undoubtedly Layla’s finest work yet. It is a powerful track that bounces along, slowly and soulfully, to an effortlessly hooky chorus that is instantly memorable. The track seems ready made for radio, and would certainly not feel out of place next to the likes of Adele or Ellie Goulding.
With such clear progress, Layla only needs a spark of interest to emerge as a real force over the coming year.
