Buckinghamshire four piece The Rakettes' idiosyncratic blend of pop, indie and dance has been turning heads in their local area, with the rest of the country starting to follow suit.

Central to The Rakettes’ music is the juxtaposition between the indie and dance elements of their sound.

Nowhere is the collision of styles more apparent than in their latest track, 'Scandalous'.

Throughout the track, slower, understated dance riffs are interchanged with the spiky fast-paced guitars typical of indie rock bombast.

Conducting these changes are the versatile voice of Rob Wright, who changes his vocal styles to compliment the two conflicting styles.

The band demonstrate that they are more than capable of writing infectious indie pop in the title track to their upcoming EP, Cheap Talk. It is a bouncy upbeat track that combines catchy, sing-along vocals with meandering guitars in what is an indie dancefloor filler in the making.

With their recent debut radio appearance on BBC Introducing and their debut EP on thre verge of release, now is the time to start paying attention to The Rakettes.
