Having started out as a free music event in 2002, Evolution Festival has grown into one of the North East’s biggest music festivals in its 11 year history. Based on the Quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead, the two day music event is taking place across the Spring Bank Holiday weekend (May 26th and 27th).
Since 2006, the festival has been a supporter of international non-governmental organisation WaterAid, who aim to improve access to safe water in the world’s poorest communities.
The festival is held across two stages (Spillers Wharf and Ballast Hills) and has previously been headlined by the likes of Maximo Park, The Streets, Paolo Nutini, Enter Shikari and Dizzee Rascal.
For 2013, Evolution Festival has attracted another stellar line-up, with The Vaccines and Paloma Faith topping the main stage and Modestep and Sub Focus headlining the dance stage.
