Loch NessTucked away at the top of Scotland on the banks of Loch Ness (it’s a rock festival on the banks of Loch Ness – do you get where the name came from?) this is fast becoming one the must-attend festivals north of the border. This year, with discounted student tickets, three days of live music and bus deals from a lot of cities in the UK, you should seriously consider visiting “the most beautiful festival in the world”. Founded in 2006, RockNess has come a long way from its humble beginnings in a relatively short space of time. That year, Fatboy Slim was the only big name on the bill. In 2013, he returns as a special guest complimenting an eclectic mix of chart toppers and indie favourites. A student ticket is an enticing £135 for plenty of stages with talented artists across the three days. If music isn’t your bag the comedy tent includes the likes of Dylan Moran. RockNess is genuinely great value for money when considering the strength of its line-up. On top of that, its beautiful setting gives it an edge over the countless muddy fields British festival goers are already familiar with. Definitely one to consider – as long as you can work out how to get all the way up to Inverness! Line-up: Basement Jaxx, Ben Howard, Example, The Vaccines, Plan B, Fatboy Slim, Madness, Bombay Bicycle Club. www.rockness.co.uk/
