New Band of The Day: Gnarwolves
Share This Article:
Drawing on the emotive rock sound of the likes of Brand New and Title Fight display, here come Gnarwolves. The band’s American influences are plain to hear, with their music demonstrating the hook-filled passion of pop-punk and combining it with the ferocity of skate-punk. The first song to catch TNS’ eye was 'History Is Bunk', a fast- paced track that quickly forms the catchy vocal lines and big choruses that have become a staple of the genre. 'Community Stability Identity' slows things down somewhat, allowing the emotion of the track to be felt, particularly in the understated introduction where vocalist Thom sings: ‘It's always here colder in February once we're acquainted with the Autumn leaves.’ Gnarwolves specialise in short-sharp blasts of sound, with most of their songs lasting around two minutes. Critics and fans alike have voiced a desire for lengthier tracks, but the strength of the bands material means this remains a minor point for now. The band are quickly becoming one of the ones to watch this year, with a slot at next months Slam Dunk Festival the first of many opportunities for the band to prove themselves in what is set to be a busy summer.
