New Band of the Day: Taffy
Share This Article:
Formed from the ashes of previous bands, Tokyo's Taffy feed their sound on a diet of Nineties Britpop and fuzzy shoegaze. Don't roll your eyes just yet though because this Japanese four-piece are much more than a mediocre nostalgia band *cough* Viva Brother *cough*. Yes, their music might visit an long gone era but they manage to capture the height of such a time and make it refreshing again. You only have to hear tracks such as 'So Long' to be reminded of the zany fuzz that bounced around Blur's 'Girls and Boys.' The Japanese press have already been going crazy for them and it's been going pretty much that way on these shores too. Their debut album Caramel Sunset is out this month and it should be a blinder.
