If you’re young enough, you’re good enough goes the saying, which certainly applies to 18-year old DJs and production duo George Townsend and Adam Kaye, otherwise known as Bondax.
Hailing from Lancaster in the North West, the duo are currently riding the wave of blogs buzz with their dreamy take on UK underground music, having remixed tracks for acts like Chromeo and Last Japan and appearing on Mary Anne Hobbs’ XFM show, while latest track You’re So has broken through on Radio One.
The music is, in their own words, “a sort of new garage sound” and recalls the late night soulful electronic beats of artists like James Blake and Mount Kimbie. This is as much last-bus-home headphone music as it is club bangers. Only You Know is a perfect example of their sound, with swirling, chopped beats interwoven with romantic vocals that will have bass heads nodding away, while Just Smile for Me features gorgeous pulses of electronic bleeps that builds and builds to the drop. With several more EPs to come and gigs at Dot To Dot, Glade and Rough Beats this summer, it looks like 2012 could be Bondax’s breakthrough year. Just don’t forget who told you about them first...
