Bos Angeles are causing a buzz at the moment, with many tipping the Boscome five piece for big things in 2012. They play gloomy surf pop that rightly draws comparisons to the Drums and early New Order.

Things haven’t been easy for Bos Angeles though, and critics cannot decide whether they are noise-pop perfection or half-arsed copycats. Either way, the band are proving impossible to ignore, and are quickly building a name for themselves.

'Beach Slalom' is their most famous song, and was the track that grabbed everybody’s attention. The song’s tinny guitars combine with the mesmerising base to make a catchy yet melancholic track. Front-man Richard Board’s distant, bleak vocals are distinctly familiar to New Order’s Bernard Sumner and are key to the bands dreamy, shoegaze sound.

After rumours about turmoil in the band, Bos Angeles reassured fans by releasing 'You’re the one I want' last month. The track shows the band haven’t rested on their laurels, and have developed their sound since 'Beach Slalom'. It is a fast paced, raw track that is perfectly unperfect with its unrefined nature granting the song a character that is often lacking in the music of other bands.

While their retro sound may not be for everyone, they have made enough of an impression to be touted as one of the next big things. Keep your eyes on Bos Angeles.
