With a sound as antagonistic as their name Derby math-rock noiseniks You Slut! have just unleashed their second aural, sucker-punch of an album Medium Bastard.
The instrumental four-piece over
see a throbbing genre orgy, all flailing musical limbs and intertwining sounds – Medium Bastard is the sweaty climax!
Far more intricate and complex than their 2007 debut Critical Meat, it defies simple genre-description and is as heavy as hell. They now delve into the meandering soundscapes and drawn out build-ups of their post rock peers, but still pack punches with twisted riff-driven, multi-rhythm assaults on the ears.
