New Band of the Day - Being There

From: London Background: Being There aren’t likely to bring anything new to the table, nor is their stripped back nature going to provide the loudest of setups. They’re sat comfortably on the fence but we like that. Their revivalist guitar indie reminds us of the 90’s, and whilst it’s not going to do much in terms of originality, they could do a lot worse (Oh hi Viva Brother!). The four-piece have a new single called ‘Tomorrow’ out soon, but rather than look to tomorrow, it nostalgically looks at the yesteryear of 90s fuzz indie. It takes the same pathway as their contemporaries the Pains of Being Pure at Heart and contains husky guitars, dazzled vocals and a slacker type ethos central to its nostalgic and lazy core. ‘Back to the Future’ is yet another ironic title. Drum rhythms pummel along at a mid-pace whilst guitar melodies wind and shimmer in a carefree breeze like the Teenage Fanclub of 20 years ago. Their sound is an undeniably that of the summer; Summer 1990. Download: ‘Tomorrow’ Similar To: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Teenage Fanclub. Links: www.beingthere.bandcamp.com
