Revealed: The one thing students want most from their accommodation

As students, our budgets often require us not to demand quality. We eat inexpensive pizza, drink cheap beer and dart directly to the sale rack. But a new survey by Glide Utilities has revealed that students are upping the game when it comes to their accommodation. In determining what students want, the requests for living space extended the typical comfortable mattress and kitchen sink. The number one priority for students doesn’t come as a surprise in our technologically-consumed world. Fast internet was rated as most important for 83% of the students surveyed. With lifestyles that are becoming increasingly more technologically reliant, it only makes sense that this factor would be in higher demand. The second highest in importance was inclusive bills, with almost three-quarters of students rating this as essential. When it comes to budgeting, students want to know what they’re in for. The following factors students found important revolved more around luxury than ever before. Rather than existing simply as a place to shower and sleep, student accommodation is becoming havens for the young and reckless. 61% of students surveyed required their rooms to have double beds while 59% tacked on large communal rooms. 55% even required fashionable locations, close to transportation and the hub of university life. It’s to be considered as well that lifestyle, including living accommodation, can play a part in the overall university decision. Students now demand quality in their education and the experience. Rising prices and rising expectations are leading students to search for quality more than ever before. Places like Collegiate AC are listening to these demands, making themselves more competitive by turning student housing into the full package.
