We have probably all heard of some of the more curious questions asked in Oxford and Cambridge interviews, however new research suggests that the interview fun does not stop at university.

The careers website Glassdoor has compiled a list of real interview questions which show that potential candidates will have to be on their toes and ready think outside the box when they go for job interviews.

The list is made of up real questions that contributors to the website actually were asked.

While some follow conventional lines such as ‘Why is 99% not good enough?’ (Parcelfore Worldwide) and ‘What do you mean by leadership? (Moody’s), others are not so straightforward.

An UBS applicant was asked ‘How do you fit a giraffe into a fridge?’ while BHP Biliton asked one prospective employee the eternal conundrum: ‘Would you rather fight a horse sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?’

Scott Dobroski, from Glassdoor said: "Employers are not looking for the right answer when asking tough interview questions, but rather, they want to learn more about a candidate, how they think critically, and how they can problem solve on the spot.

So when going to interviews, job hopefuls should not only research their role and company but also be prepared to give intelligent answers to odd questions.
