London’s sell-out halloumi pop-up is going on a UK tour

Yep, you read that correctly. Following the success of London's pop up back in 2017, halloumi is BACK and better than ever with new dishes and new cities as the pop up travels up north. The Deputy Ministry of Tourism for Cyprus has commissioned not one, but TWO new exciting pop-up restaurants, displaying the tasty goodness and showing us Brits exactly what Cyprus has to offer.
Image courtesy of Rooster PRFor those of you who haven't tried the squeaky treat, this Cypriot-born delight has a robust and unique texture, which is perfect for grilling or frying. Its unique salty flavour is perfect for fresh summery meals! Halloumi first came to our shores in 2000 and has even since absolutely boomed as a popular ingredient. Whether it be lunches, as a side or for the main role for brunch, us Brits absolutely cannot get enough of it. In fact, we're the world's second biggest halloumi consumers after Cyprus itself.

Image courtesy of Rooster PRThe tour is heading up north to both Liverpool and Edinburgh during April to showcase two new menus, handcrafted and perfected by the head chefs at each restaurant. The dishes include a variety of different flavours, textures and colours to satisfy everyone’s tastebuds, including ingredients such as duck, egg and asparagus - but don’t worry if you’re not into the fancier dishes, there are some simpler sides for those who want to savour the cheese in all its glory. And you not only have the chance to sample one meal, but the restaurants are also offering diners an opt-in for a full tasting experience, with the addition of halloumi sharing platters to the menu for only £19 for two. The tour will be at the Otro Restuarant in Edinburgh between Monday 8th April until Sunday 21st April and will be at Liverpool‘s Clockworks restaurant from Thursday 11th April until Sunday 14th April 2019. A perfect day out during the Easter holidays after a stressful term, don’t you reckon?
