Nestle has confirmed that green tea Kitkats are coming to the UK... 15 years after they were first introduced in Japan.

The company plans to sell its popular matcha tea flavoured KitKats in Europe later this month, after years of demands from European customers.

Green tea KitKats were introduced in Japan in 2004 and UK KitKat fans have been patiently waiting ever since.

And yes, in case you were wondering, the chocolate is actually green. Brace yourselves, those who have never seen green chocolate.

This is because of the matcha green tea powder, which is mixed with white chocolate and cocoa butter. The chocolate is described as having a 'sweet and fragrant flavour'.

Germany, Switzerland and Italy will also be graced with the new chocolate. The production will take place in the Nestle factory in Hamburg.

This comes after the success of the ruby chocolate KitKats, which were launched in Tesco stores last year.

Alexander von Maillot, global head of confectionary at Nestle, said:"'The launches of KitKat ruby and green tea matcha are further proof of our commitment to our leading international confectionary brand.

"We have introduced other innovative flavours and premium products to KitKat, KitKat Chunky and KitKat Sense in recent years and there is more to come."

More than 350 different variations of KitKat are being sold in Japan, so with this in mind, hopefully more will be on the way to the UK.
