Based on the true and untold story, Netflix brings us a trailer for a new crime thriller The Highwaymen, starring Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner as two Texas rangers that are responsible for the eventual ambush and takedown of one of America's most notorious crime partnerships.

The trailer takes us to America in the era of the Great Depression: the country is scared, desperate and has no way to help itself. We see now that this is the era of criminals living large - nobody is able to put a stop to it, even as the governor (played by Kathy Bates - this already feels like dream casting) is actively doing everything she can to put a stop to this string of violent robberies and “cold-blooded murders.”

When the full force of the FBI and the latest forensic technology aren’t enough to capture the nation’s most notorious criminals, the two former rangers must rely on their gut instincts and old-school skills to get the job done.

The trailer gives us glimpses of the notorious crime duo Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, yet the audience never is allowed a full visual, making it clear this is not a story about the criminals, but rather then two men who are chasing them. While they are hunting down criminals, the trailer makes it increasingly clear that the further they go into this manhunt, the more dangerous their situation becomes as people rush to defend the scandalous criminals who are making headlines and becoming iconic national figures. While the outlaws may make headlines, it’s clear that the lawmen are the ones making history.

The Highwaymen will launch in selected cinemas from 15th March and globally on Netflix on 29th March
