Walt Disney have released a teaser trailer and poster for the highly anticipated Toy Story 4, the fourth entry in the pioneering animation franchise that follows enemies-turned-friends Woody and Buzz Lightyear and their colourful collection of friends. The trailer gives nothing much away during its short (and rather surreal) running time, other than instantly putting you in a good mood. What is given away however is the introduction of a new character - Forky, voiced by Tony Hale (best known as Buster Bluth from Arrested Development). His name is no mystery - Forky is a plastic fork with pipecleaners and googly eyes, very much a homemade toy. How he gets introduced to the gang is unclear. He may be the creation of Bonnie, the toddler that the gang make their home with following a fond farewell to long-time owner Andy in Toy Story 3 (2010). Forky's sense that he doesn't belong already sets the new film up to discuss themes of friendship and acceptance, an underlying theme of all the films in the series so far. The poster gives even less away, other than it looking like Woody is heading off somewhere and perhaps saying goodbye. That does fit with what is known about the film so far. As well as Forky's introduction, Buzz and Woody go off on an adventure to find Woody's love interest Bo Beep, a notable absentee from the last film. It's a set up that Pixar President Jim Morris has described as an "romantic comedy" while Tim Allen, who voices Buzz, has told fans to brace themselves for an emotional ending. Toy Story 4 is due to be released in June 2019.
