The next trailer for Widows has dropped and so far it looks like a roller coaster of drama and intensity

The trailer for Widows, the upcoming female heist movie has dropped and although it would be the second female heist movie this year, one look at the trailer will tell you that this is going to be nothing like Ocean’s 8.

Instead of a group of glamorous women robbing the Met Gala to prove a point, we have four women forced to carry out a life or death robbery after their respective husbands have been brutally murdered in a failed heist attempt, in one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Academy Award winner Viola Davis stars as Veronica Rawlins, who heads up the group after her husband (played by Liam Neeson) is killed. Davis is joined by Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar and The Fast and Furious franchise) and Australian actress Elizabeth Debeki (The Great Gatsby and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) who play Linda and Alice respectively. British stage actress Cynthia Erivo who won the 2015 Tony award for her role in The Colour Purple, is the fourth and final ‘widow’, Belle.

The film is set in modern day Chicago and follows the four women who, after learning of their husbands death, decide to take matters into their own hands and carry out their husbands’ final heist themselves. It looks to be a stylish yet brutal thriller led by four strong and impressive actresses.

With director Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave) and writer Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) at the helm one can expect a high quality film rife with unyielding tension and a strong sense of unease and the trailer indicates that the film will deliver just that. So far it is hard not to have high expectations for Widows. Plus, anything with Viola Davis in it is bound to be exceptional (maybe with the exception of Suicide Squad).

Widows will be released this November. Check out the new trailer below.
