Steven S. DeKnight on getting Guillermo del Toro's blessing for 'Pacific Rim Uprising'

Imagine gearing up for your feature film directorial debut, and then being offered the sequel to a big-budget blockbuster like Pacific Rim... well that's what happened to Pacific Rim Uprising director & co-writer Steven S. DeKnight!

Having worked for decades in TV on the likes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Spartacus, DeKnight thought it was about time to make his break into the world of film, but he never dreamed it would happen like this! One moment funding for his horror film was being cut, and then next he was in meetings with Guillermo del Toro discussing a Pacific Rim sequel.

Pacific Rim Uprising stars Star Wars' John Boyega as Jake Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba's character in the first film - a reluctant hero who must put aside personal grievances and rally together with the best minds and fighters from all over the world to save humanity once more.
