There were few surprises at the 87th Academy Awards, which took place last night at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

As had previously been predicted, the night belonged to Eddie Redmayne (you can read our interview with him here), who added the Best Actor gong to the plaudits he’d already picked up at the Golden Globes and BAFTAs, and Julianne Moore, who won Best Actress for her role as an early-onset Alzheimer's sufferer in Still Alice.

The morning after, the internet is mainly blowing up at Birdman beating Boyhood to Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress winner Patricia Arquette explaining how she’d been too busy doing ecological charity work to get a manicure (kudos) and Imitation Game writer Graham Moore advising us to "Stay weird, stay different and when it's your turn, and you are standing on this stage, please pass the message on to the next person who comes along."
