Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have agreed on a deal with Mr Scientology himself, Tom Cruise, to make a fifth instalment of Mission Impossible.

After Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol racked up an impressive £700million in the box office a fifth film was imminent and Paramount now hope to fast-track the production and release.

Returning for a fifth time to play CIA agent Ethan Hunt, there has been no other personnel confirmed for the movie yet, but according to Deadline.com, Jack Reacher director Christopher McQuarrie is favourite to direct with J.J. Abrams expected to produce alongside Cruise.

It is hard to think what the story for MI5 will be, but after first hitting the screen back in 1996 the film series has shown over the past 17 years they still have the power to draw people into the cinema.
