Lincoln continues its award season dominance being nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and Actress and Best Cinematography.

The film which focuses on the last four months of the assassinated President, has already gained 10 BAFTA nominations and seven for the Golden Globe’s along with wins at various film Critic society awards. 

Novel adaptation Life of Pi follows up with 11 nominations then Les Miserables and Silver Linings Playbook with eight each. However Tarantino’s controversial new film, Django Unchained only managed to score five.

This is a good year for British film with box-office smash Skyfall up for five awards and Anna Karenina grabbing four.

The greatest story comes from the Best Actress category, which features both the youngest and oldest ever nominees. Just six at the time of filming, nine year old Quvenzhane Wallis gets the nod for her performance in Louisiana bayou set film Beasts of the Southern Wild. At 85 Emmanuelle Riva gets the nomination for her role in French- language drama film Amour.

The 85th awards, hosted by Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane, will take place on Sunday 24th February.
