Werewolf: The Beast Among Us is the latest incarnation of monster movie, brought to you by Universal studios, the studio behind the legacy of werewolf movies from The Wolf Man, American Werewolf in London and most recently The Wolfman.

Full of gore and bloodthirsty attacks, this action-packed horror thriller takes Universal Studios’ historic monster legacy to an all-new level of chilling action and terrifying suspense!

It’s out to own on DVD and Blu-ray now, and to celebrate we’ve compiled a list of the top five werewolf movies ever...

1. The Howling (1981)


A respected newswoman decides to go undercover to capture a dangerous serial killer with near fatal results.  Left severely scarred by the experience, she is sent to ‘The Colony’, an unconventional rehabilitation center whose inhabitants may not be what they seem.

2. Teen Wolf (1985)

An unpopular highschooler (Michael J Fox) discovers that he is going through some rather unusual body changes before he discovers that he is in fact, a Teen Wolf! This is an absolute classic 80s film with a timeless narrative from which the current and massively popular MTV show of the same name is based upon.

3. The Wolfman (2010)

The Wolfman is a 2010 American remake of the 1941 classic werewolf horror film of the same name

Lawrence Talbot (Benicio del Toro) returns to his ancestral homeland after being tracked down by his brother's fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt) to help her find her missing love.

Upon returning to his father's (Anthony Hopkins) estate, Talbot learns that his brother's mauled body has been found and sets out to find his brother's killer… with terrifying and hairy results. 

4. An American Werewolf in London (1981)

Two young Americans, Jack and David, are on a backpacking holiday in England when they are attacked by a werewolf, which results in Jack's death and David being taken to a London hospital. Through apparitions of his dead friend and disturbing dream sequences, David becomes informed that he is a werewolf and will transform at the next full moon.

A comedy-horror werewolf film, Empire magazine named An American Werewolf in London as the 107th greatest film of all time in September 2008.

5. Werewolf: The Beast Among Us (2012)

When a mysterious creature starts making mince meat out of the local vagrants, a young man struggles to protect his loved ones from such a fearsome and relentless beast. He soon convinces a team of skilled werewolf hunters to let him join their quest to hunt the beast down.

However, it soon becomes clear that the creature is stronger, smarter and more dangerous than anything the werewolf hunters have ever faced before.  Their series of violent escapades soon become more gruesome than ever expected, and their misadventures begin to escalate out of control, with horrifying consequences…
