In honour of the announcement of the reboot, we decided to take a look at the best fashion moments from the original series. Blair's Red Oscar de la Renta DressOof. The red Oscar de la Renta number that Blair wears when she reunites with Chuck in Paris and tries to convince him to come back to New York is, in one word, iconic. In what is probably the most beautiful shot of the whole series, we see the former couple illuminated by the Gard du Nord. Chuck, a far cry from his old self, in a washed-out shirt and dark jeans standing with Blair in her ruffled red dress as she returns the engagement ring he was meant to give to her is stunning. Thank you forever, Oscar de la Renta. Serena's Cotillion DressView this post on Instagram
Serena's cotillion gown from season one is one of the most recognisable looks of the series. The gold Pamela Dennis dress paired with the flawless ponytail is so quintessentially Serena van der Woodsen. Also, shoutout to Eric Daman (the show's stylist), for similarities between this dress and Serena's wedding dress - the cotillion episode was one of the most significant for Serena and Dan's early relationship, and it was beyond satisfying to see it come full circle. You didn’t wear Marchesa to prom? Well, Blair Waldorf did and she looked incredible. The black gown with gold ornate peacock detailing was a dress fit for a (prom) queen. Serena’s Ralph Lauren DressView this post on Instagram
The yellow dress Serena wore to her mother and Bart Bass’ wedding was Too Good. The tiered ruffles and keyhole detail paired with the elegant black gloves screamed Upper East Side glamour.View this post on Instagram
Serena’s White Party Dress

Another Oscar de la Renta! Serena’s white party look had her serving Greek goddess realness and we loved every second of it.
Serena’s Wedding Dress

We had to come back to it. While it may be the weakest wedding look of the series, it still deserves a mention on the list. The gold Georges Chakra number is reminiscent of Serena’s cotillion dress and it is beyond satisfying to see her fashion come back round in full circle when she marries Dan in the series finale.

It’s just so cute! The season one outfit is put together with various pieces from H&M and Zara. It really is the epitome of Gossip Girl fashion and nails the children of rich Manhattan socialites aesthetic.
Blair’s First Wedding Dress

The wedding dress of dreams. The custom Vera Wang that Blair wears to walk down the aisle and become a princess (!!!) had us all envious. The cinched waist and decorative bow paired with the headband-like tiara was so perfectly Queen B.
Blair’s Second Wedding Dress

The best dress in the entire series. The Elie Saab gown Blair wears when she and Chuck (finally!) tie the knot is flawless. The powder blue dress embellished with floral detailing and topped off with a sparkling headband is perfect for Chuck and Blair’s flash wedding ceremony. It is both quintessentially Blair and quintessentially Gossip Girl.
Gossip Girl has become the pop culture phenomenon it is for so many reasons – the complex characters, the beautiful love stories, the shocking twists and revelations, a near-perfect soundtrack, and some of the best fashion ever to be seen on TV. It’s been off the air for seven years, yet is still one of the most universally loved programmes of recent years. While we wait for the upcoming reboot, we can only hope it can come close to the excellence of the original series.
