The Business of Fashion has announced their list of the best fashion schools in the world - and the UK's own Kingston University is one of the best
Fashion is a huge business in the UK, with thousands of students choosing to study fashion-related subjects at university. Collectives such as Graduate Fashion Week are a great opportunity for soon-to-be grads to show off all of their hard work - but which UK universities come up on top?
University for The Creative Arts Selected Notable Alumni: Zandra Rhodes, Stephen Webster and Tracey Emin. The Epsom campus of UCA has lots of different fashion options. At UCA you can do anything from fashion photography to the more classic fashion design - there's even a fashion atelier degree for the more highly skilled designers. For more information visit the university's website. London College of Fashion Selected Notable Alumni: Jimmy Choo, Sophia Webster, Grace Woodward and Alek Wek. Yet another London-based university to make the list was London College of Fashion. Located in John Princes Street (right behind Oxford Street) LCF is in the heart of London's fashion hub. There are dozens of courses to choose from at LCF, from fashion styling to bespoke tailoring. Whatever area of fashion you're interested in, there's bound to be a LCF course for you. For more information visit the university's website.
There were a lot of universities that didn't make the list, but that doesn't make them not worth knowing about. Our Graduate Fashion Week pieces are a reminder that it's all about the work that you put in that really affects what comes out of it. Kingston University Selected Notable Alumni: Glenda Bailey, Caryn Franklin, Helen Storey and John Richmond. Located in south-west London, Kingston University has been chosen as one of the best places in study fashion in the world. The Business of Fashion has voted it as being best long-term value, best learning experience, best in global influence AND best overall. The university only offers one fashion based coursed, the aptly named Fashion (BA Hons), which can be either taken as a three-year course or with the option of a sandwich year. For more information visit the university's website. Central Saint Martins Selected Notable Alumni: Lee Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Sarah Burton, Matthew Williamson, Zac Posen and Kim Jones. A university so famous it's had songs written about it, Central Saint Martins is the classic choice for up-and-coming designers. Part of UAL, CSM offers a variety of fashion-based courses for undergrads. Fashion history, fashion journalism, fashion design and jewellery design are just some of the many degrees on offer. When it comes to choice, CSM comes out on top. For more information visit the university's website.
