On the BAFTA TV Awards’ red carpet, when asked what made great TV, Tom Read Walker replied that it’s something that becomes “indelibly sealed on the mental retina”… which is basically a fancy way of saying unforgettable. It’s much the same when it comes to a best-dressed list, and here are the outfits that we won’t be forgetting any time soon:

Amidst a sea of prom-appropriate floor-length gowns, Maya Jama’s glittering white gown risked being boring. However, accessorized with a bedazzled snake necklace and laced with fringing, Jama steered well clear of blending in with the crowd and maintained her reputation as the fashion-forward DJ that we know and love.

Grayson Perry

Let’s face it, Grayson Perry’s BAFTA outfit was never going to be boring, and this look has certainly lived up to our expectations. The Met Gala really raised our red carpet standards this week, and this pastel confection is exactly what we needed to fill the camp void we were beginning to feel.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge

This look is just dreamy. The sleek cornflower blue gown creates the perfectly-elegant backdrop against which the cherry heels, clutch bag, and lips can stand out and bring the freshness that Waller-Bridge is so known for straight to the red carpet.

Daisy May Cooper

Instead of spending a fortune on a sparkling gown that she would wear once, Daisy May Cooper walked the red carpet dressed head-to-toe in bin bags and rubbish and donated the money she would’ve spent on said sparkling gown to her local food bank. We stan a conscientious queen.

Keeley Hawes

This dress is literally on this list for the pockets. I’ve often wondered what award-worthy actresses do with their possession when they go on stage to collect their award because unlike their male counterparts they often don’t have multiple pockets to stash phones and snacks inside. Well, Keeley Hawes has changed the game and brought a bit of convenience to red carpet glamour.

Jodie Comer

If you’ve ever read any articles on this site, you’d know that we’re very partial to Jodie Comer and Villanelle, so it should come as no surprise that she’s on this list. Not only did she win the BAFTA for best leading actress, but she also did so in an extremely sleek and sophisticated berry-hued gown that fashion-icon Villanelle would be proud to be seen in.

Lolly Adefope

Lolly Adefope brought some much-needed colour to a red carpet that favoured black dresses and tuxedos.Low-key hair and jewellery plus a slick of red lipstick really let the dress do the talking- this look is all the summer inspiration we need.

Emma Mackey

This time last year, few of us even knew who Emma Mackey was. In a short amount of time, she’s established herself as not only one to watch in the drama department, but also the fashion one (come on, she’s already been profiled in British Vogue). Her cream and black tuxedo gave us our first “yasssss” moment of the evening - and demonstrates that sometimes less is definitely more.
