Sunday night saw the celebration of another year of film at London's Royal Albert Hall with the EE British Academy Film Awards 2019 and, as expected, stylish stars turned out in their droves for the occasion.

Whilst last year’s ceremony was awash with black in honour of the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements, this year saw a return to colour on the red carpet as well as some all-white outfits. Hairstyles seemed to remain demure to keep the attention on the clothing, often either simple slicked back buns or smooth and straight with a middle parting.

Stars from the now aptly named The Favourite dominated the stage, after the film won seven out of its 12 nominations - and with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also in attendance once again, there was no shortage of glamour amongst the attendees and nominees.

Although it is difficult to narrow down, here are ten of the best-dressed guests this year…

The Duchess of Cambridge

The Duchess of Cambridge stunned in a one-shoulder white Alexander McQueen gown, but whilst that may have been what caught everyone’s attention, it was her choice of accessory that still has people talking. She paired her classy outfit with Princess Diana’s favourite pearl drop earrings, another fitting tribute to her late mother-in-law.

Lily Collins

The Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile star more than stood out in her Givenchy tailored jacket, sheer lace skirt, and platform heels, with the deep blue contrasting her pale complexion perfectly.

Thandie Newton

In perhaps the best look of the whole evening, Thandie’s Valentino dress was perfectly offset with simple hair and makeup so as not to draw any attention away from the star of the show.

Rachel Weisz

Although this ruffled number has placed Weisz on some worst dressed lists after yesterday, the beige Gucci dress and exaggerated shoulder detailing seemed the perfect blend of reserved and glamorous. Straight, smooth hair with a middle parting seemed to be a common theme amongst the female guests too.

Letitia Wright

This stunning Stella McCartney two-piece paired with silver metallic heels showed that it is not only extravagant gowns and chiffon that make you ooze glamour and sophistication. The Black Panther star then took the opportunity to talk about her depression struggle in her speech after winning the EE Rising Star award.

Irina Shayk

In contrast with Letitia Wright, the Russian supermodel also stunned in a suit, this time Burberry with a deep neckline.

The 23-year-old actor has had a growing reputation for his red carpet style recently, and this Haider Ackermann look is no different. There aren’t many people who could pull off a matching metallic suit jacket and shirt, but the Call Me By Your Name star does it with ease.

Maya Jama

The thigh-high split and lace panelling on this Aadnevik dress was, in Maya’s own words, a risky choice in case of a wardrobe malfunction. Luckily, she caught people’s attention for all the right reasons at her first appearance at the BAFTAs.

Laura Harrier

This orange pleated dress brightened up the red carpet looks, and is not something the actress normally wears. While this did seem like a slightly less typical ‘red carpet glamour’ choice than others from the night, it impressed nonetheless.

Cate Blanchett

Taking up the final spot in this list, but certainly not the last well-dressed attendee at the awards, is a piece from the Christopher Kane Spring 2019 collection. With a plunging necklace and oversized necklace detailing, Cate also debuted a new hair cut and colour, making for a magnificent transformation for the night.

Awards season is now well and truly in full swing, and with only a few weeks until the Oscar's we're excited to see what looks will be served!
