5 ways to wear jeans and a shirt

Share This Article:

Whether jeans are your casual go-to or your night out safety net, we all have our favourite pair.

Jeans are the staple to most of our wardrobes. And however you where them, whether they're blue, black, ripped, cropped, short short or flare, it's no secret that pairing with another wardrobe essential - the shirt - will give you both the most simplest yet chicest ensemble possible.

Here are some of my favourite ways to piece the classic jean and shirt combo:

Keep it simple

A crisp white shirt and classic blue denim is such a timeless look and so versatile to a situation or event. Elegantly casual but nice and smart; suitable for a lunch date but also perfect for a chilled work outfit.

To really nail this look go for a long sleeve white shirt and straight legged jeans.

Long and layered

A long shirt dress can be super versatile - wear with bare legs when it’s warm, but looks so stylish over jeans during the awkward slightly chilly spring/summer crossover.

This red and white striped number from ASOS screams summer vibes but is oh-so-cute over some basic denims.

Throw it on

Baggy shirts are so fun over black or colourful bralets! Leave it loose and open if you’re feeling brave, tie it at the front or have it slightly buttoned with a belt to cinch in your waist.

Partner the colours on top with an appropriate shade of denim on the bottom and you have the perfect look. Top tip: team the baggy shirt with skinny jeans to be totally flattering.

Double up

Double denim is always a risky pairing... does it work, doesn’t it?

For me, it’s a big fat yes! There’s always the authentic double blue denim option, but spicing it up with dark on light or double black/white also makes it that little more interesting.

Beach ready

Though jeans and a shirt can be a great smart-casj outfit, take the jeans short and it’s an outfit that can be holiday ready.

Denim shorts always work really well over a bikini and, paired with an unbuttoned shirt, you have a fab chilled outfit to take you to the beach and keep you cool if you’re lucky enough to be enjoying the sunshine.
