Clumpy lashes are back

Pipe cleaners, spiders legs or just simply 'clumpy lashes' - whatever you call them, you can't deny that they make a statement.

From Twiggy to pretty much anyone under the Kardashian/Jenner umbrella, big lashes have been a staple for doe eyes everywhere for decades. I don't see any reason why that should stop now.

Clumpy lashes get a bad wrap. Often seen as the result of bad application, dry mascaras or forgetting to take your mascara off the night before, people have shunned them. However, getting that perfect balance of length and weight takes time. Those brave and bold enough to dare these lashes are dedicated to the cause.

Because we all went to high school. Those rushed, early morning applications of Maybelline's colossal volume mascara have scarred many of us - but it doesn't have to be that way.

Doe-eyes are potentially one of the best features a face can have and if you luck out at birth, there's no harm in faking it till you make it.

From drawing extra lashes on my lower lash line (try it, it's life-changing) to thick wings, I've tried it all when it comes to making my eyes look amazing.

For years, makeup wearers everywhere have been told that clumpy = bad. They've almost become taboo, which is what makes them so appealing. It's a fashion rule that is so satisfactory to break. We all love sticking it to the man and proving people wrong. This is a fail-safe way to do that.

So the next time you're getting ready, put on that extra coat of mascara. Maybe even three. Rock those clumpy lashes that beauty bibles have been preaching against for years, you rebel.
