Trends come and go and although we love them at the time, we evolve our styles as the world moves forward.

How many times have we all looked back at old pictures and found ourselves cringing over the ridiculous clothes we were wearing and the absurd hairstyles we thought we were slaying? But they say what goes around comes back around. And that applies to trends too.

In recent years we’ve witnessed how the ‘old fashioned’ clothes we’ve seen on our parents from pictures evolve from NOT to HOT and it seems like 2017 is the year of the return of 90s fashion.

Whether you were born in the early or late 90s, I am sure all of you remember the iconic decade of all denim everything, dark lipsticks and the Spice Girls, of course.

Here are our top trends which are allowing all of us 90s kids (okay, we are not kids anymore) relive our childhood.

Platform shoes – one for you all petite girls! Personally I couldn’t pick a better comeback from this decade. Platforms come in so handy when you want to step away from the killer heels but you can’t let people see you without the extra inches on your feet. This trend comes in every style and shape. Trainers, sandals, boots - you name it!

Storm Embroidered Lace Up Flatforms , PUBLIC DESIRE , £29.99

Scrunchies - Although the director of Sex and The City series has proven to know a lot about women, he didn’t get one thing right - the scrunchies. Otherwise he would have never made Carrie Bradshaw deny this huge 90s trend. I’m sure Sarah Jessica Parker would agree with us on this one.

Pack of 2 Metalic Hair Scrunchies, ASOS , £8.00

Denim Jackets - 2017 has definitely been the year of denim so far. Denim chokers, footwear, tops, bikinis ERRR-THING. However, denim jackets are the one item proven to have become a necessity for every woman’s wardrobe – again. What differs between the current denim trend and the 90s is the sass they come with - slogans, chains, studs and embroidered detail.

Chain Back Denim Jacket, Pretty Little Thing, £60

Round sunglasses - If you went to a festival without a pair of these, did you even get the real festival experience? No, we didn’t think so. Round sunnies are just too cool for school.

 Mirrored Round Sunglasses , Forever 21 , £6.00

Mom Jeans - These are every casual girl's best friend. The best thing about mom jeans is that you can feel comfy but look super edgy too. Like the denim jacket trend, the 21st Century mom jeans are extra sassy and easy to style.

High Waist Embroidered Mom Jeans, Boohoo, £28

Backpacks - the days of the big handbags are over. It’s all about the multi mini backpacks. They are a necessity, not just an accessory.

Pink, Velver Backpack, River Island, £26

Floral dresses - Last but definitely not least comes the floral dress. Spring may have only just started but shops are already filled with bright, floral dresses. Whether you are a girly girl or not, everybody loves a bit of floral. It’s the official way of welcoming the green and sunny season.
