Everyone needs a good book to keep them occupied over the Christmas period. When recovering from that ongoing food coma, there's nothing more relaxing that snuggling up in front of a fire, with a new Christmas read.

But if you're more of a Vogue reader than a fiction fanatic, you may be wondering what you're going to do with those long afternoons when your family and friends are all consumed in their books. Well, don't lose hope just yet, because 2016 has been the year for books on fashion.

Here are the five fashion books which I can personably deem unmissable reads this Christmas.

Inside Vogue: A Diary Of My 100th Year by Alexandra Shulman

Inside Vogue: A Diary Of My 100th Year has probably been the biggest amongst the fashion world and flew off the shelves back in October when it was first released. British Vogue Editor-in-Chief Alexandra Shulman gives the first insider's insight into how the magazine is run. The book is an honest account of what it is like to be at the helm of Vogue, as Schulman not only discusses the success but also the struggles that have arisen whilst she has been editor.

£12.99 in Waterstones.

Peter Lindbergh: A Different Vision on Fashion Photography

Peter Lindbergh is today regarded as one of, if not the most influential fashion photographer of the 20th century. Lindbergh is renowned for producing one of the most iconic British Vogue covers in history, marking the beginning of the new fashion era.

New York: Through a Fashion Eye

New York: Through a Fashion Eye is an illustrated guide to the fashionista’s New York, and is perfect if you're looking for something light to browse over the holiday period. Illustrated by one of the fashion industries greats, who has drawn for some of the biggest brands in fashion from Chanel to Dior; Megan Hess takes you on a journey, providing the best food, play and sleep the fashion capital of New York.

Brigitte Bardot: My Life in Fashion

Iconic actress Brigitte Bardot led fashion revolutions throughout her career. The title of the book explains the content perfectly, and this is a great book to see how the fashion industry has truly evolved over the course of time.

Waterstones, £22.95.

Alexander McQueen: Unseen

After picking up British Brand of the Year at the Fashion Awards, Alexander McQueen: Unseen is an “encyclopaedic behind-the-scenes look at 30 of the designer’s 36 collections,” and after his sudden death back in 2010 this is great way to delve deep inside the McQueen fashion house.

Hardback, £48.00 from Waterstones.

All of these are great reads, and are a perfect way to just sit back and enjoy the time off over the Christmas period before everything kicks back into full swing in January.
