Harper's Bazaar's best dressed Women of the Year

While the rest of the world was busy stitching gruesome scars across their foreheads, shrouding themselves in ominous white sheets and bravely inserting those black-out lenses ready for a night of Halloween festivities, all of the year’s most inspirational women were arriving at Claridge’s for a more sophisticated affair. On the 31st October, the nominees for Harper’s Bazaar’s annual ‘Women of the Year Awards’ arrived in designer dress for a Halloween feast free from fake blood and jelly eyeballs. But that’s not to say that many of the guests did not embrace the Halloween spirit. On the contrary, our favourite outfits of the night were those with a spooky twist! Emma Watson, crowned Inspiration of the Year, stole the show in this gorgeous Halloween-inspired dress by Christian Dior. While the boldly edged sweetheart bodice fashions a sexy outline for this unique work of art, the sheer halter-neck provides the outfit with a tone of modest sophistication appropriated to its wearer. Delicately embroidered with pagan stars, illusive creatures and a large demonic depiction, Emma proved that even Halloween can be a high-fashion occasion. Kiera Knightley, proclaimed by Harper’s Bazaar as Theatre Icon of the Year after her recent Broadway-debut as the eponymous Thérèse Raquin, also shone out in her hallow's eve inspired dress. Complete with high neckline and Victorian-esque frills at it’s sleeveless hems, Knightley’s emerald green Erdem dress emanated unmistakable witchy undertones. Daisy Bevan meanwhile opted for an androgynous look in a pinstriped suit with a green bow tie and smoky eyes. A look reminiscent of an understated Beetlejuice or perhaps a subtle take on Saw’s jigsaw puppet. Whatever her inspiration, we love her alternative approach to the events unspoken dress code.
