Major lingerie retailer Bravissimo will hold its first ever bra-fitting event for transgender and gender non-binary people.
The event, which will take place on 15th June at Bravissimo's Oxford Circus store, will provide transgender and non-binary people - who do not identify exclusively as either male or female - with a "safe space" in which to have a bra-fitting, free of charge.
Surprisingly, wearing an incorrect bra size can in fact cause a number of uncomfortable symptoms, including headaches, back and shoulder pain, and even indigestion. Signs of an ill-fitting bra include red indentation marks on your shoulders or under your armpits, straps constantly sliding off your shoulders, or the back band sitting much higher or lower than the underwire.
A spokesperson for the brand, who describes it as "a fully inclusive brand", has said that the event aims to give all of its customers "the confidence to say I'm being the me I want to be."
Explaining the inspiration behind the event, the spokesperson continued: "Our wonderful team at our flagship store in Oxford Circus have a loyal customer base and when we realised the demand to hold a more private and intimate fitting evening for transgender and non-binary customers we were thrilled to be able to host such an event."
Bravissimo has already had positive feedback from customers, who wish to see the event taken nationwide.
The brand's spokesperson added, "We're already receiving requests to host the event in further Bravissimo stores - watch this space!"
