Swedish fashion retail giant H&M has revealed the names of the eight finalists for its annual H&M Design Awards, now in its third year. The H&M Design Award is a design competition for students at selected design schools around the world. During the past nine months, H&M’s Head of Design Ann-Sofie Johansson and her team have travelled around the globe putting together their shortlist of candidates for 2014, who have been selected from 30 design schools (including six prestigious British schools) across 12 countries. The finalists have each been awarded €5,000 and have the opportunity to present their work to the grand jury – which includes fashion designer Erdem Moralioglu, actress Michelle Dockery, style expert Michelle Harper, British Vogue executive fashion editor Serena Hood, Vogue Italy senior fashion editor Sara Maino, as well as H&M’s creative Head of Design Johansson, and H&M’s creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch – who will decide the overall winner.
