Fed up of walking into the SU and seeing six other people in the room wearing the same Topman shirt as you? If you didn’t know already, in the wise words of Macklemore, that’s a hella don’t; so why not check out new brand Disizsick, and avoid any repeat fashion embarrassments? With its roots firmly placed in the skateboarding, graffiti and hip-hop sub-cultures, Disizsick has tapped into these influences to make its streetwear debut. Born out of a desire to cater for ‘people looking for a unique identity’, Disizsick has created an eye-catching collection which offers clean yet distinct designs. Embracing the ‘classic look of American hip-hop’, the collection cleverly plays on iconic visuals, such as Mickey Mouse and Pharaoh heads, to create fresh designs with a twist. Chicago Mouse and Los Angeles Pharaoh feature on snapback caps, t-shirts, tank-tops and skateboard decks, with kidswear also forming part of the collection. These striking graphic prints, seen throughout the range, are further enhanced through the use of high-quality fabrics, at affordable high-street prices. The brainchild of business partners Maryline Vigouroux and Kriss Dassieu, the East London-based brand was born out of a passion for design, style and music. From a young age, the co-founders were known for their own individual style of dress and, having immersed themselves in youth and street cultures early on, the creative duo now want to help define streetwear as it is seen today. The combination of Vigouroux’s and Dassieu’s natural creativity marked the beginning of a journey to develop the skills and knowledge required to launch a brand which reflected their personalities and interest in fashion, skateboarding and hip-hop subcultures. Having studied fashion and the youth market for several years, the launch of Disizsick was a natural progression. Dassieu says ‘We have been toying with the idea of starting a clothing line for some time. After much research and looking at what else was out on the market, we are confident that now is the time to put our designs out there, and make them known.’ All designs are available as limited editions only, ensuring the clothes are as unique as the people who wear them.
