Opening its doors for the first time this weekend Number 90, a multi arts venue in Hackney Wick, will include a canal-side 500 capacity bar, a restaurant, events space and an art gallery – and during its opening weekend, entry is completely free.

The opening weekend begins on Thursday evening (6th March) and continues until Saturday (8th March), and will see numerous events – including nights filled with East London’s underground DJs and a takeover from The Vinyl Factory during the day on Saturday, where guests will be able to choose from their eclectic mix of donated vinyl and hear the DJ's playing the track - creating a “playlist of the people.” There will also be secret guests on Thursday and Saturday evenings.

Food-wise, Thursday evening will see a one-off menu from chef Leon Borja, who will be cooking up creations based on his Brazilian roots alongside guest food vendors in a “street food showdown.” Also available will be Vietnamese street food from Hanoi Kitchen and fried chicken from Thank Cluck.

Truman’s brewery will be serving up the beverages, with “a carefully created cutting-edge selection... in the form of infused flavours in unusual pots.” We’re intrigued...

The art gallery at Number 90, which intends to take advantage of Hackney’s local creative scene as well as inviting in artists from all over the world, will see its first monthly exhibition launched on Thursday by cartoonist Charlie McFarley.

Post-opening weekend, Number 90 will open six days per week for various events – including burger and movies on Tuesday, Wicked Live (with five bands playing) on Wednesdays and soul and funk evenings on Thursdays.

It will also be open on Saturdays for brunch, and on Sundays for that all important roast dinner, which will be accompanied by live jazz.

Founders Remi Landaz & Bruno Cabral say: "Hackney Wick is the home to some of the most exciting and forward thinking producers, food merchants, artists, musicians & DJs and our ambitions are to bring these talents to our new home and invite you all to come along to experience a taste of what is to come at Number 90."
