The National Student has EXCLUSIVE ACCESS to Peep Show’s Robert Webb is using his new persona as Maurice Wigglethorpe-Throom, CEO and eccentric Founder of comparethemarket.com to explain credit card interest rates for dummies.

In this outtake the twee CEO and his long-suffering assistant Spencer use facial hair to demonstrate the benefits of finding a credit card with the lowest interest rate. It is easy to understand why Webb was chosen for this role as not many actors could describe credit card debt as a “great big hairy what-not or a gentleman’s unmentionable” and get away with it.

The relationship between Wigglethorpe-Throom and his butler provides a tantalising taste of the megalomaniacal direction Webb’s future characters could take. An amusing example of Webb’s personifying a droll abuse of power comes from the memorable line “Shame on you Spencer, you’ve let down everyone who ever lived.”
