Theatre Review: I Can Read Your Mind @ The Bread and Roses Theatre

After making his debut at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Irish mind-reader Tomas McCabe returns with his show ‘I Can Read Your Mind.’

Having had a hugely successful tour of Ireland, Tomas has brought back his show for another Edinburgh run.

Before he heads off to Edinburgh, I managed to catch the preview of The Bread and Roses Theatre in Clapham.

I Can Read Your Mind is as much about the audience as it is Tomas. He shows how he can control our decision making, how powerful our instinct is and how he can, in fact, read our mind.

In just one hour Tomas packs in a huge array of tricks, from the seemingly small, to the dangerous and to the quite frankly baffling. He’ll have you gasping, laughing and on the edge of your seat.

Tomas’ ability is astounding. He has great showmanship, though a little nervous – but powering through the shaky hands he delivers a fantastic show. He builds a great rapport with the audience, encouraging everyone and making sure he involves as many people as he can.

He shares some of his understanding of psychology with us, enticing us in to make it feel like we could maybe understand how he does it before performing something seemingly impossible from hypnosis, to pre-show predictions, to even sticking your hands together with imaginary superglue.

If you’re a sceptic, go. If you’re a believer, go. It has to be seen to be believed!

This is one not to be missed at this year’s Fringe!

Tomas’ show, I Can Read Your Mind will be playing at Liquid Rooms – Warehouse at Edinburgh Fringe Festival every night from 4th-26th August at 9pm.
